Tour Itinerary 12 Day Fly-in Safari

Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe Airport

You will be welcomed by a Company Representative and transferred to your hotel. Overnight at the Hotel No. 5(B&B).

Day 2: Entebbe – Murchison Falls National Park

Early in the morning drop off at Entebbe International Airport for a domestic flight towards one of the most beautiful protected areas in Uganda: Murchison Falls National Park. Your plane is scheduled to depart at 12.30 hr and the expected arrival time is 13.30 hr at Pakuba Airstrip. From here you will be transferred through the park to your accommodation for check-in at your accommodation.

Enjoy lunch from the terrace with magnificent views of the river Nile and relax before going on a game drive for a first introduction to Uganda’s flora and fauna.

Day 3:  Murchison Falls National Park

After an early breakfast, we start the day with a game drive on the northern bank of the Nile, with chances of seeing giraffes, elephants, lions, hartebeest, and different species of birds. In the afternoon the safari will be continued with a boat cruise on the river Nile for game viewing at close quarters. Accommodation and Meals at Paraa Safari Lodge.

Day 4:     Murchison Falls – Entebbe – Kibale Forest National Park

Today you can enjoy a relaxed breakfast before being transferred back to Pakuba Airstrip. Depart at 10.30 hr on a scheduled flight back to Entebbe from where you directly continue towards the western part of the country, arriving at 14.35 hr at Kasese Airstrip. Here you will be picked up and transferred to Kibale Forest for the final transfer (approximately 2 hours) to your accommodation in the middle of the tropical rainforest of Kibale.

Day 5: Chimpanzee trekking and nature walk at Bigodi

Following the pre-tracking briefing at 7:30 a.m. you walk to the trailhead for the start of an unforgettable adventure –enjoy a guided primate walk in the tropical rainforest in search of the wild chimpanzee, red-tailed monkey, black-and-white colobus monkey, and many others. 

The treks are generally 3-4 hours; expect good sightings of chimps in their natural environment.  A maximum of 6 people per group will head out with a forest ranger guide and will be allowed to track chimpanzees. Spend an unforgettable hour with the chimpanzees watching them go through their daily routine in their natural habitat.

Head back for lunch at the lodge and thereafter head to Bigodi Swamp Walk, an initiative of the local community that is known for its rich diversity of birds and primates. This wetland is a great attraction for birders with over 200 bird species, including the popular Great Blue Turaco. Accommodation and Meals at Chimpundu Lodge.

Day 6: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth – Boat cruise Kazinga Channel

Wake-up call from the beautiful sounds of birds in the park, and prepare for  a road trip through beautiful Western Uganda. Enjoy an early morning breakfast and drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park with famous wildlife like hippos, buffaloes, elephants, kobs, and a number of bird species. 

After lunch,  have a boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel, a natural channel between Lake Edward and Lake George. Thanks to the abundant birdlife that is sighted, and the elephants, buffaloes, and hundreds of hippos that are cooling off at the shores. 

After the boat cruise, head out for a coffee tour experience learning about the processing of coffee, and later a cultural dance session.  Accommodation and Meals at the Mweya Safari Lodge – Deluxe Tents

Day 7: Lion Experiential Tour  – Ishasha sector – Tree climbing lions

After breakfast, head for the lion research project that allows visitors to participate in monitoring the pride in the park, using locator devices and learning habituation calls, as well as monitoring weather, surroundings, and behavior.  The Lion Project involves the clients and the researchers heading as early as 6:30 a.m. with a safari vehicle equipped with radio-collar-receiving equipment to keep track of the lions.   

Later head for Ishasha sector, home of the popular tree-climbing lions, you shall first check in at the lodge for lunch and thereafter head for the game drive in search of the tree-climbing lions as they cling to the fig trees.

Day 8: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Enjoy a warm breakfast and have another game en route in the Ishasha sector in search of the tree-climbing lions. This will give you such an amazing experience as you can see the tree-climbing lions hanging on the old fig trees. 

Later head to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park to have a late lunch after check-in, relax, and have personal time.

Day 9: Gorilla trekking at Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Embark on an unforgettable adventure at Bwindi Park, where you’ll join a gorilla tracking expedition led by expert guides. Begin your day with a hearty breakfast before heading to the park offices, where you’ll be paired with a gorilla family from group 8 and a knowledgeable guide.

Before setting out, the park warden will provide a comprehensive briefing on gorilla behavior, safety protocols, and introduce you to your assigned gorilla family. Then, brace yourself for an exhilarating journey through the lush trails of Bwindi.

Be prepared for a trek ranging from 2 to 8 hours, navigating steep and sometimes slippery terrain beneath the canopy of the rainforest. This experience demands a reasonable level of fitness but promises unmatched rewards.

In the heart of the jungle, you’ll encounter these majestic creatures in their natural habitat. Witness them as they go about their daily rituals of feeding, playing, and grooming. The highlight of your day comes as you spend an awe-inspiring hour in the presence of these gentle giants, creating memories that will last a lifetime.

After your encounter, return to the lodge to unwind and reflect on the extraordinary experience. Get ready to relive the magic of your gorilla trekking adventure long after you’ve left the jungle behind.

Day 10: Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

After breakfast, depart for Lake Bunyonyi arriving in time for lunch at the Lodge and relaxation.

Day 11: Culture on the Crest

Get ready for an action-packed 5-hour adventure on the Kyabahinga Peninsula! Take command of a canoe as you traverse the bay towards the picturesque terraced hillsides of the Kyabahinga peninsula.

Make a stop at a bustling trading center where the local brew is brewed, then gear up for a thrilling 30-minute climb up the slopes of Kyabahinga. At the summit, encounter Omugurusi Jeremiah, a renowned traditional healer and herbalist, who will unveil the hidden secrets of the tropical highland flora.

Prepare to be enthralled as you listen to captivating tales, legends, and historical anecdotes associated with these enchanting islands. Next, venture to the ridge where a skilled crafts maker awaits, ready to showcase the art of crafting. Get hands-on experience as you try your hand at creating your own masterpiece.

Conclude your journey with a descent down the hillside followed by a leisurely canoe ride back to our starting point. Wind down the evening in relaxation at the Lodge, reminiscing about the day’s exhilarating escapades.

Day 12: Transfer to Kisoro Airstrip – Entebbe

You will be transferred to Kisoro Airstrip for your onward flight back to Entebbe where you will spend some time relaxing before heading to the airport for your onward flight back home at the end of your East African Safari.
