Tour Itinerary 13 Day Wildebeest Migration and Calving Safari

Day 1: Arusha  JRO Airport

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport, a company representative will warmly welcome you and transfer you to your overnight accommodation. Settle in for a relaxing stay at the charming Arusha Coffee Lodge. Enjoy a delightful meal and prepare for the exciting adventures ahead.

Day 2: Arusha to Tarangire National Park

Today head to Tarangire National Park, check in, and enjoy a refreshing lunch. In the afternoon, set out on your first game drive in Tarangire. This park is famous for its ancient baobab trees, picturesque river valleys, and diverse wildlife.

Look out for ungulates, rare as the Bohor reedbuck, or unusual as dry-land oryx, long-necked gerenuk, and smaller rare mammals such as Banded mongoose and Cape hare, as well as lions, leopards, cheetahs, wildebeests, zebras to primates such monkeys and baboons.

Day 3: Tarangire – Walking Safari and night Game Drive

After breakfast, you can enjoy a walking safari with a ranger guide and then return to the lodge for lunch and relaxation. In the evening, you can have an early dinner followed by a night game drive.  Look for herds of up to 300 elephants at the riverbed, fringe-eared oryx, and peculiar long-necked gerenuk. Day 4: Tarangire to Lake Manyara National Park

Today, you will set off after breakfast on a scenic drive through the beautiful Tanzanian countryside, arriving at Lake Manyara National Park just in time for a delightful lunch.

Lake Manyara is a gem nestled at the base of the Great Rift Valley escarpment, known for its lush landscape, diverse wildlife, and stunning lake views. Upon arrival, you will check into the Manyara Wildlife Safari Camp, which offers you an immersive experience amidst the wilderness and a delightful lunch. After lunch, you will head out for a game drive through the park.

Look out for the tree-climbing lions, large herds of elephants, buffalo, zebras, and a variety of antelope species. The birdlife here is spectacular, with over 400 species, including flamingos, pelicans, and storks, making it a bird watcher’s paradise.

Day 5: Lake Manyara – Ngorongoro Conservation Area

Day 6: Ngorongoro Crater Game Drives

After savoring breakfast, you will embark on an exhilarating journey to the conservation area. You will immerse yourself in thrilling game drives throughout the day and relish a picnic lunch amidst the stunning landscapes. Your stay and meals will be at the exquisite Neptune Ngorongoro Luxury Lodge.

Day 7: Ngorongoro to Central Serengeti

After Breakfast, proceed to Serengeti National Park. This is a scenic 4 hours drive towards the Great Serengeti National Park passing through the mist-shrouded rainforests of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Look out for buffalos, baboons, elephants, and leopards in the dense undergrowth.

During your Serengeti game drive, look out for lions, leopards, elephants and buffalos, cheetahs, Thomson’s and Grant’s gazelle, topis, elands, waterbucks, hyenas, baboons, impalas, African wild dogs and giraffes to name a few.

The park also boasts about 500 bird species, including ostrich, secretary bird, Kori bustard, crowned crane, marabou stork, martial eagle, lovebirds, and many species of vultures making it a perfect destination for bird lovers.

Some two million wildebeest and zebra make their way across the plains in pursuit of the rains, closely followed by predators.

Depart after breakfast, heading on a scenic drive that offers glimpses of diverse wildlife and picturesque vistas along the way. Arrive at your destination in Northern Serengeti in time for lunch. Day 10: Serengeti North Game Drives – Migration

This day will be spent exploring the Wildebeest Migration and other animals. The North Hills are dotted with large acacia trees which support large amounts of elephants, giraffes, antelopes, buffaloes, and the carnivores that prey on them. From here proceed to the Bologonja and Kogatende areas where we will eventually meet the Mara River itself.

Home to large numbers of hippos and Nile crocodiles, the Mara River is the last major obstacle standing between the Wildebeest Migration and the relative safety of the Masai Mara. You might witness the crossing of the wildebeest and zebras as they brave the river’s currents and crocodiles in an attempt to reach safety on the opposite bank.

Day 11: Northern Serengeti to Ndutu Area

After breakfast, depart to Serengeti South in the Ndutu area for a full-day game drive at Ndutu Area to view the great wildebeest migration viewing.  A majority of the wildebeest migration can normally be found on the short-grass plains from December to April. Day 12: Ndutu Area- Calving Sightings

Today, you will go on an exciting game drive to the Ndutu Area, where you will explore vast grassy plains and woodlands. You will witness the breathtaking sight of large herds of wildebeest and zebra, including the amazing sight of newborn calves. Be on the lookout for predators like lions, cheetahs, and hyenas as they roam their hunting grounds.

During breaks between game drives, you will enjoy a lovely picnic lunch. Your accommodation and meals will be provided at the elegant Lake Olakira Migration Camp ensuring a luxurious and immersive safari experience.

Day 13: Ndutu – Arusha National Park
