ITINERARY

Day 1: Arrival in Nairobi Kenya

Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, your tour guide will warmly welcome you and transfer you to your accommodation. After some time to relax, embark on a visit to the Karen Blixen Museum, the former home of the renowned author of Out of Africa, where she lived from 1914 to 1931. Explore the beautifully preserved farmhouse and its collection of farm tools, including an antique tractor, wagons, plows, and original coffee processing equipment.

Next, discover the vibrant works of local and emerging artists at Karen’s Art Corner, and browse the museum shop for unique souvenirs such as handcrafted items, posters, postcards, books, and even the Out of Africa movie.

Conclude your day with a visit to the Giraffe Center, where you’ll learn about its conservation efforts and get up close with the endangered Rothschild’s giraffes.

Day 2: Explore the Wonders of Ol' Pejeta Conservancy - Chimpanzee Sanctuary

Set off for Nanyuki with a brief stop at the equator line for photos and proceed to Ol Pejeta Ranch Conservancy situated between the foothills of Mount Kenya and the Aberdares. You will arrive look out for the black rhinos roaming freely in their natural habitat. The serene beauty of the conservancy, with its picturesque landscapes and vibrant flora, are a sight to behold.

Have lunch and then visit the Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary by boat ride. The sanctuary is a Jane Goodall Institute and Kenyan Wildlife Services Project. The Sanctuary provides a permanent refuge for about 40 chimpanzees. Alternatively, you may visit the Rhino Information Center.

Day 3: Ol' Pejeta Conservancy- Game Safaris

After breakfast, set off on a thrilling half-day game drive through Ol Pejeta Conservancy, where you'll track the elusive big cats and other wildlife in their natural habitat. As the morning adventure winds down, head back to camp in time for a satisfying lunch.

Enjoy a relaxing afternoon at leisure, soaking in the serenity of the conservancy.

In the evening, after an early dinner, embark on your first night game drive, venturing out into the wild to spot the fascinating nocturnal creatures like leopards, bush babies, aardwolves, aardvarks, and owls. As the moon rises over the savannah, you'll experience the thrill of wildlife under the cover of darkness. Return to camp after this exciting night safari for a peaceful overnight stay, reflecting on the day’s unforgettable adventures.

Day 4: Ol' Pejeta - Samburu National Park

Today, head out on a scenic five-hour journey north to the rugged beauty of Samburu Game Reserve. As you traverse picturesque landscapes, soak in the ever-changing scenery. Upon arrival, have lunch before setting out on an exhilarating afternoon game drive, immersing yourself in the untamed wilderness.


Samburu National Reserve is renowned for its unique wildlife, dramatic landscapes, and rich Samburu culture. It is home to the Samburu Special Five—Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, Beisa oryx, gerenuk, and Somali ostrich—found only in northern Kenya. The Ewaso Nyiro River sustains large elephant herds and attracts predators like lions, leopards, and cheetahs. After your breakfast, you will depart for Lake Nakuru National Park located on the floor of the Great Rift Valley. You will arrive in time for check-in and lunch at the lodge before having an evening game drive. Lake Nakuru is a world-famous bird (over 400 bird species) and rhino sanctuary where thousands of flamingos congregate to feed on Spirulina platensis. Look out for the Black and White Rhino, Lion, Leopard, Waterbuck, Buffalo, Colobus monkey, and Baboons.

Day 9: Lake Nakuru – Masai Mara

Day 11: The Mara - To Lake Naivasha Park

After an early morning game drive, depart the Mara heading to Lake Naivasha, a beautiful freshwater lake fringed by thick papyrus arriving in time for lunch and relaxation. You may take a nature walk close to the lodge with opportunities to see many bird species found in this area, Roth’s child Giraffe, and monkeys among others. This lake is also a birdwatcher’s fantasy with over 450 species such as pelicans, herons, storks, and kingfishers

Day 12: Explore Hell’s Gate.

After breakfast with a packed lunch head to Hell’s Gate. You will have a nature walk and hiking activities in the park. Take a Hike to the Gorges: The park is famous for its dramatic gorges, particularly the Hell’s Gate Gorge, provides a dramatic backdrop inspired the background scenery of Disney’s The Lion King and also served as the setting for Tomb Raider: Cradle of Life.

You may descend deeper into the lower Ol Njorowa Gorge: A popular challenging hiking route that takes you through steep cliffs, narrow canyons, and natural Hotsprings. You may take on a cycling experience through the park, look out for antelopes, impala, zebras, buffaloes, and giraffe among others. You will have a picnic lunch in between the activities. Later return to Olerai House.

Day 13: Lake Naivasha to Amboseli National Park

You’ll set off for Amboseli National Park, arriving in time to check in and enjoy a delicious lunch at the Lodge. In the evening, head out for a game drive, where you’ll have the chance to spot iconic African wildlife such as elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, wildebeests, and hippos, among others. Alternatively, immerse yourself in the rich culture of the local Masai community by visiting Muteleu village, where you can learn about their traditional way of life. Afterward, return to your lodge for a well-deserved relaxation.

Day 14: Amboseli - Bush Breakfast - Game Drives

The park is located at the foot of the majestic Mount Kilimanjaro and offers breathtaking views of Africa’s highest peak, which towers across the border in Tanzania. In the early morning, you have a bush breakfast as you witness Kilimanjaro rising above the clouds, creating a stunning backdrop to your safari.


Amboseli is renowned for its massive elephant herds, but it is also home to a rich diversity of wildlife, including buffalo, black rhinos, zebra, wildebeest, and numerous bird species. Your day will be filled with thrilling morning and evening game drives, complemented by a picnic lunch in the park.


After the game drives and photography, retreat back to the camp, your peaceful haven tucked away in nature, to unwind and relax for a sundowner experience on the Kenya Safari Adventure.

Day 15: Amboseli – Tsavo West National Park

After breakfast depart for the Tsavo West National Park arriving in time for lunch and relaxation. Later take an afternoon game drive. Tsavo West is famed for elephants, lions, hippos, wildebeest, giraffes, crocodiles, vervet monkeys, antelopes, baboons, and giraffes.

Later head to Mzima Springs, the source of Mombasa’s water located in this park. At Mzima, wildlife gathers for a drink, particularly in the dry season. Here, you can observe an impressive gathering of animals, all drawn to the life-sustaining waters.You may also be able to view hippos and crocodiles.

Day 16: Tsavo West National Park - Taita Hills & Lumo Conservancy

After breakfast depart for the Tsavo West National Park head on a 3 hours drive to Taita Hills and discover the hidden wonders of Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary and Lumo Conservancy, two remarkable parks located between Tsavo West and Tsavo East National Parks. Covering an expansive 110 square kilometers, Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary is a sanctuary of biodiversity, known for its endemic bird species, such as the rare Taita thrush.

Beyond birdwatching, the sanctuary offers incredible wildlife sightings, including elephants roaming through dense forests, elusive leopards among the trees, powerful buffaloes grazing in the open, and swift cheetahs racing across the plains, all of which create unforgettable moments in the wild.

Day 17: Taita Hills & Lumo Conservancy - Tsavo East National Park

As you journey across the expansive Yatta Plateau, one of the longest lava flows on Earth, you’ll witness elephant herds leisurely roaming the savannah. Entry Requirements

Visa on Arrival: Travelers from most countries can obtain a visa upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and other entry points. Visa Waivers: Citizens of African Union, Commonwealth, and La Francophonie member states are granted a visa upon arrival with a 90-day fee waiver. East African Community (EAC) member state citizens receive a six-month entry pass free of charge.

The East Africa Tourist Visa allows travel between Rwanda, Kenya, and Uganda with multiple entries within 90 days for US$100. Apply online at eVisa portal upon arrival, or at diplomatic missions. If applied for in advance, the first entry must be through the issuing country.

Money and Spending

Kenya's currency is the Kenyan Shilling (KES), but US Dollars (post-2006 bills only) or Euros are widely accepted. Exchange money in Nairobi, Mombasa, and Kisumu for the best rates. Credit cards (mainly MasterCard) are accepted at high-end hotels and restaurants in Nairobi but rarely outside the capital.

Mobile Payments

M-Pesa: Kenya is known for its mobile money services, and M-Pesa is widely used for both personal transactions and payments at businesses. Many hotels, shops, and even vendors accept payments via M-Pesa, and it’s convenient for sending and receiving money.

To use M-Pesa, you’ll need to register your phone with a local M-Pesa agent. If you’re a frequent traveler, consider getting a local SIM card with M-Pesa for easier transactions.

Health and Medical Information

Vaccinations:

  • Yellow Fever vaccination is mandatory.
  • Recommended: Tetanus, Cholera, Hepatitis A & B, and Malaria prophylaxis.
  • Malaria: Precautions are essential. Use insect repellent, wear long-sleeved clothing, and consider antimalarial medication.

Best Time to Visit Kenya: Month-by-Month Guide

January & February: Best for Game Viewing and Peak Adventure

  • January: Ideal for game viewing during the summer season, outside of the rain periods. Perfect for beach holidays on the Kenyan coast, though temperatures can be high.
  • February: Great for safaris, particularly in the Masai Mara where rainfall is minimal. Perfect for Mount Kenya expeditions, with low rainfall and high chances of spotting wildlife at watering holes.

March to May: Wet Season with Fewer Crowds

  • March: Transition from dry to wet conditions. Rain becomes more frequent, making some areas difficult to visit due to muddy roads. However, lower costs and fewer tourists make it a more peaceful time to visit.
  • April: One of the rainiest months in Kenya. Ideal for photographers, as the lush green landscape and moody skies create beautiful settings. However, game drives may be challenging due to muddy roads.
  • May: Long rains are in full swing, especially along the coast. Not a great time for beach holidays but perfect for photographers and those looking to explore less crowded parks.

June to October: Best Safari Season and Great Migration

  • June: Start of the long dry season, making it the best time for safaris. Wildlife gathers around waterholes, and the weather is perfect for game viewing.
  • July: The Great Migration begins, with mega-herds of wildebeest and zebras arriving in the Masai Mara. Temperatures are pleasant, and the river crossings are a major highlight.
  • August: Peak of the Great Migration. Witness dramatic river crossings and predator-prey action. The weather is dry, making it an ideal safari experience.
  • September: Dry conditions continue, and game viewing remains excellent, with wildlife concentrated around water sources.
  • October: The migratory herds begin to leave, but resident wildlife still provides plenty of exciting safari opportunities.

November & December: Short Rains and Fewer Tourists

  • November: The short rainy season begins, leading to fewer tourists and lower prices. Despite the rain, this is a great time for a more peaceful safari.
  • December: Hot weather with occasional rain. A great time for wildlife viewing, particularly for birdwatchers, as bird numbers increase during this time.


Banking and Currency:

US Dollars cash is widely accepted and, in most cases, preferred as the currency that travellers should use to EXCHANGE into UGX on arrival for spending money on the road e.g. for drinks, curios, tips. Please note that USD bills older than 2009 are not accepted. Ensure your USD bills are 2009 or younger. Small USD bills are difficult to change – use Uganda shillings for small tips.

Credit Cards:

Credit cards can be used at some lodges and hotels, but a transaction fee of up to 5% may be charged. Ask first.

Health and Medical Information

Travellers require a Yellow Fever inoculation more than 10 days prior to your departure. The certificate will be checked on arrival in Uganda. If you have a history of liver disorders (hepatitis etc.), consult your physician first.

Tetanus and Cholera inoculations are recommended but not compulsory. Hepatitis inoculation is at the discretion of the traveler.

Malaria prophylactics are a must and can be purchased from your local pharmacy. Please consult your pharmacist/doctor.

Diarrhoea / Giardia - Bottled water is readily available throughout Uganda, however, it’s advisable to bring medicine just in case.
