Itinerary for the 3 Day Uganda Gorilla Habituation Experience

Day 1: Kampala – Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Your safari Guide/Driver will greet you either at the airport or your hotel for pickup.  You have 2 options to choose from, the road trip or the fly in option.

Road Trip Option: As we set off, our first stop will be at the iconic Equator crossing point, where you can take photos and marvel at this geographical wonder. You will indulge in a delightful lunch at the Igongo Cultural Centre, a place rich with the heritage and traditions of the Ankole people. Continue your journey through the breathtakingly scenic farmlands, winding through the majestic Gorilla Highlands. As the sun begins to set, you’ll arrive at your destination in Bwindi, where you can unwind and soak in the serene surroundings, preparing for the adventures that lie ahead.

Fly-In Option: For those seeking a quicker and equally scenic route, the fly-in option offers a stunning aerial view of Uganda’s landscapes. Enjoy a picturesque flight from Entebbe to Kisoro airstrip, providing you with a bird’s-eye view of the country’s lush terrain. Upon landing, a short and comfortable drive will take you straight to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, ensuring you have plenty of time to relax and acclimate to the tranquility of your lodgings.

Day 2: Gorilla habituation experience in Bwindi

Begin your day early with a briefing by park rangers on the guidelines and expectations of the habituation experience. After the briefing, you will be allocated a team of researchers/Park Rangers who will guide you to the dense forests of Bwindi. The experienced guides and trackers will provide insights into the flora, fauna, and conservation efforts in the park.

The Researchers and Park Rangers may get closer to the primates before allowing you to get nearer.  Spend up to four hours with a gorilla family undergoing habituation, observing their behavior, social interactions, and movements. This extended time allows for a deeper connection and understanding of these gorilla family.

After the habituation experience, return to your lodge for relaxation and reflection on the day’s adventures on the 3 Day Uganda Gorilla Habituation Experience. Only a group of 4 people can participate in this activity.

Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi

Day 3: Travel back to Entebbe or Kigali in Rwanda for departure

After breakfast, prepare for the long journey at the end of your 3 Day Uganda Gorilla Habituation Experience tour. You will head back to Entebbe by flight or drive back. There will be stops along the way for lunch en route and the guide will drop you off at your place of convenience.

You may decide to Fly back to Entebbe or depart through Rwanda Kigali International Airport.
