10 Days Discover Uganda and Rwanda Safari
Day 1: Arrival at Kigali Airport
Arrival at Kigali Airport where you will be welcomed by a company representative at the start of the 10 Days Discover Uganda and Rwanda Safari.
Depending on the time of arrival, you may have a Kigali city tour which takes you to the major historical and cultural sites of Rwanda. You may visit Kandt House or the Museum of Natural History where Dr. Richard Kandt the first German colonial resident of Rwanda resided and is now the Natural History Museum in honor of his work.
Or visit the Kigali Memorial Centre. This is a grim reminder of the 1994 senseless massacres. The museum is built on a site where over 250,000 people are buried. The exhibits in the museum powerfully tell the story of Rwanda, its history, and the unfolding genocide. Included are touch screens that have on them the testimonials of some of the survivors present during this turbulent time. Accommodation at Hotel Milles Collines.
Day 2: Transfer to Akagera National Park
Today you will head for the low-lying undulating plains of Akagera National Park the home to elephants, buffalo, giraffes, zebras, more than a dozen types of antelope species, and elusive lions and leopards, arriving in time for lunch before proceeding to Akagera arriving for an evening game drive thereafter heading to your lodge for a cool relaxed evening. Day 3: Game drive & Boat Cruise on Lake Ihema
Have breakfast and then enjoy a game drive experience in search of animals like the: elephant, giraffes, hippos, zebra, and crocodiles. After lunch head for a boat cruise on Lake Ihema for 2.5 hours, look out for crocodiles and hippos, and over 40 water bird species, this is also the best way to view the park’s abundant Waterbirds including breeding colonies of noisy cormorants and open-bill storks. Day 4: Akagera National Park – Volcanoes National Park
This morning of the 10 days Discover Uganda and Rwanda, you will head to the North passing through the beautiful terraced hillsides that characterize much of Rwanda¹s landscape, gradually climbing to the base of the awesome volcanoes with spectacular views of close to 5 peaks. You will arrive in time for lunch and thereafter visit the Twin Lakes of Burera and Ruhondo. These are beautiful lakes located at the base of the volcano Muhabura and close to the border with Uganda. Dinner and overnight at Mountain Gorilla View Lodge.
Day 5: Gorilla Trekking or Golden Monkey Hiking
Early morning, prepare for an unforgettable encounter with the gentle giants of Volcanoes National Park, the Mountain Gorillas! At the national park offices, you will be allocated a gorilla family in group 8 as well as a gorilla tracking guide.
After a pre-tracking briefing by your guide and a gorilla group assigned to you, as well as appropriate safety precautions, you head to the trailhead for the start of a thrilling adventure. The time taken can be quite unpredictable taking anything from 2 to 5 hrs or longer. You will have a packed lunch from the lodge for this hike. Upon sighting the gorillas, you spend the allowed one hour with them as they go about their daily life; grooming, feeding, and moving about.
Alternatively, you will have a golden monkey trekking in the park. Spend the morning searching the lush vegetation at the foot of Mount Sabyinyo for one of two habituated groups of golden monkeys, one of them a troop of more than 80 members. Return to the accommodation for relaxation or late lunch on the 10 days Discover Uganda and Rwanda Tour.

Day 6: To Rushaga Sector – Bwindi National Park
After your relaxed breakfast, you will set off for Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in the southern part of the park- the Rushaga Sector arriving in time for lunch and relaxation at the camp on the 10 days Discover Uganda and Rwanda Safari.
Day 7: Gorilla Trekking or Buniga Community Walk/ Batwa Experience
You have another chance at Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Forest or explore the Buniga Forest Trail and Batwa Experience. The trail showcases the life of the Batwa native pygmies—their historical nomadic cultures when they occupied the jungles of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest until 1991 when the forest was gazetted as a national park.
The Batwa Experience will also showcase their way of life, how they lived in huts made of grass, and trees, and the use of tree-houses, and caves. Hike in the forest with the people of the forest with the help of a Batwa guide and enjoy trying out your hunting techniques as the Batwa teaches you how to shoot with a bow and arrow.
Talk to medicine men and learn about the medicinal properties of the forest flora. Hear ancient legends and traditional songs. Later head back on this 10 Days Discover Uganda and Rwanda Safari for accommodation and meals at Nkuringo Gorilla Lodge.
Day 8: Bwindi NP- Queen Elizabeth National Park
Start the day will a transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park with lunch en route arriving in the early evening for relaxation on the 10 Days Discover Uganda and Rwanda Safari. You may have an evening game drive in the park, and look out for buffaloes, lions, elephants, and more.

Day 9: Lion Experiential & Kazinga Channel Boat Cruise
After breakfast, you will visit a lion experiential project. This experience allows visitors to actively participate in monitoring the pride in the park, using locator devices and learning habituation calls, as well as monitoring weather, surroundings, and behavior. The results are added to researchers’ databases, contributing valuable information to the overall understanding of wildlife ecology, and helping to conserve this wonderful ecosystem.
After lunch, head for the scheduled 3 hrs boat ride along the Kazinga channel joining Lake Edward and Lake George with excellent wildlife sightings including, multitudes of hippopotami, Nile crocodiles, wallowing buffaloes on its reedy banks, elephants, multitudes of birds including many endemics as well as hundreds of other plains game that come to it for water. Day 10: Queen Elizabeth NP to Entebbe
This day you will head back to Kampala with lunch en route and a stopover at the Uganda Equator for a demonstration of water flow in the Northern and Southern Hemispheres. You will arrive in the evening for a drop-off at the airport if you have a late flight back home or post-accommodation can be arranged at the end of the 10 days Discover Uganda and Rwanda Safari.
