Itinerary for the 4 Day Gorillas and Golden Monkey Safari

Day 1: Pick up and transfer to Bwindi impenetrable national park

Start your 4-day Gorillas and Golden Monkey Safari today with a stopover at the Equator where you will take photos or check out the local community craft shops, then continue the journey with another stopover at Igongo Cultural Center for lunch.

After lunch, you will proceed to the park with stunning views of the countryside with terraced farmlands and arrive in the evening for relaxation. Accommodation at Ichumbi Gorilla Lodge

Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

This is the highlight of the primates’ tour, tracking the beautiful ecosystem of the park for an encounter with the gorillas. The hike may take between 3-8 hours and expect to walk a long distance in steep and muddy conditions, sometimes with rain overhead, before you encounter any gorillas.

Spend 1 hour with the gorillas on this unique and unforgettable experience. Accommodation at Ichumbi Gorilla Lodge

Optional Activity: In case gorilla trekking ends early, take a Batwa Community Walk. An hour-guided trail through the forest gives you the chance to see it through the Batwa eyes.

Batwa guides show aspects of their way of life. Learn more about their shelters, use of bows and arrows, medicinal herbs, and ongoing community projects.

Day 3: Transfer to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park – Golden Monkey 

On the third day of the 4-day Gorillas and Golden Monkey Safari, you will check out of the lodge and transfer to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park for a briefing about the rules and regulations to follow during golden monkey trekking.

Start trekking in the forest in search of the golden monkeys which takes about 30 minutes to 4 hours depending on where the golden monkeys are located because they like to move from one place to another in search of food.

Spend an hour with the golden monkeys and then trek back to the starting point where you meet up with your driver guide and drive to the lodge. Accommodation and Meals at Mucha Riverside Lodge.

Day 4: Departure Entebbe / Kigali

Today you head back to Entebbe arriving in the evening where your driver guide drops you off at Entebbe International Airport or drops you off at any place of convenience.  OR You fly out of Kigali International Airport.
